2B Chassis

I completed a 2B back in 2005 which I still have. Its a 2B/4 with the mini macpherson struts.

I've just been given a chassis to build a second car but I can't identify the model and it is somewhat different to my 2B chassis. I think it might be a 2B+.

Many of the parts aren't with it so I'm going to have to source them. The chassis is the one shown is this picture:

Please could someone let me know which chassis I have?

Are the build videos/DVDs available for this chassis anywhere?

Thanks!

I'd say it was definitely the stainless steel chassis as used for the Superspec. It's got the diagonal bracing tubes in the sides, and the extra tube that goes round the engine. You can also see the double triangular plate wrapped round the centre of the front engine tube where the Rover engine mount fits. (I know 'cos I've just had my plate replaced!)

Had another good look alongside my car and Andy is right, it is the standard Superspec chassis using the Rover T16 engine. RHE did offer a version using the Ford engine but the only person I know who has one and is current on the forum is 'jellyhead'.

ah ok cool just thought i'd double check as the chassis rail around the engine bay rang a bell for some reason.

Everytime i see the tubular chassis of the 2b/superspec etc i remember how nice it looks. Shame they don't make them anymore, with a few more tweaks it could have been really fantastic.

I think the 'hood' was on it's way but they are pretty hard to find.

I'm getting slightly confused though as this chassis has the welded in bracket for the servo, welded in panels (although the previous owner has cut out the floor), mountings for the Mondeo steering column, stainless panels for the superspec boot cover and different tunnel from the 2B.

I thought this was the 2B wishbone chassis?

You may not be able to tell, it depends on how much of the floor the previous owner removed, but one difference between the 2B and the Superspec is that we had a lowered floor (about 2") to take the fully adjustable Recaro seats.

some other things i think i can see is brackets on the rear tubes for the suspension like this http://www.missioncontrol.f9.co.uk/ss7/Photos/November04/rear_axle.JPG(image from Ian Grants build website http://www.missioncontrol.f9.co.uk/ss7/build_diary.htm ) which appears to be superspec (or at least the build diary is of a superspec)

The harness mounts through a round tube are also not standard on a 2002 2b as my chassis has a square tube with tubes welded to the back for the harness bolts,

I think i am correct in saying that the pedal box area is different because the mastercylinder is mounted towards the driver so it doesn't stick into the bonnet area as it would hit the inlet manifold (not a problem on the pinto engined version as the exhaust is this side).
