Steering Play

Hi All

I have fully assembled the steering on my Sub-K and am very please with it apart from one niggling problem. If you pull and push the steering wheel when sat in the car there is a bit of play and a tiny clunk. After much investigation the dodgy union is the splined shaft that comes out of the sterring rack where it mates to the Robin Hood supplied sterring shaft. I have tightened the bolt up so tight I am convinced that any tighter and it will shear but there is still some slack with the bolt in the notch stopping it from coming off. Is this normal or should the union be solid with no sliding whatever?

Cheers

Hi Paul,

the RHE supplied block is often a loose fit on the

Sierra shaft. Dunno why. Just RHE's way of making us think!!!

The answer is to sleeve the hole in the block with a thin walled tube,

then ram the UJ rod into it, & tighten it up.

Or just weld it if you can.

Bob.
