How To Fit A Rear Crank Seal On A Ford Pinto Without A Tool

Have tried twice to fit a rear crank seal but no luck it keeps curling over on the last part of the seal is there anyone with a tool for fitting them local or no of a way cheers.

Have you slackened the crank journal off 1st?

No sump still attached did not want to take sump off again :-(

Sorry mate, off with the sump and slacken the rear journal.

They're an interference fit, I.e... The journal will compress the seal as you tighten it.

Thats the front one aint it not the rear?

Use the small end of a cable tie to push the last part of the seal over the end and use lots of oil or grease

Do not use a screwdriver or anything sharp as it will cut the seal, dont remove the sump
