Installed a new flasher relay today but had no effect on the indicators at all.

All indicator lamps work when they are supposed to but remain lit and not flash, same with hazards. One other thing have noticed is that the hazards now only work when the ignition is switched on.

Wire a temp couple of lamps with your new relay to ensure it's working O.K & that you are connecting correctly in car ( check which is feed/lamps/earth in relay base) Test lamp can be any 12 volt lamp, check each relay socket to earth & 12+ve to prove.

It's beginning to sound like a faulty column switch I'm afaid,as the switch does a lot of feed changes dependant on if ignition off or on & which function required--flash L/R or hazards.

Here's what i have found so far - disconnected the earth on the flasher relay and put an earth direct to battery - hazards then flash on/off as long as the ignition switch is not on and flashes in time with the battery warning light and oil warning light.

If the ignition is switched on then all lamps stay lit continuously wether be through hazard or indicator switch.

It would appear there is a bad earth but where do you start to look?

All other lamps etc work fine.
