Rolling Road In The South?

My son wants to rolling road his mk 2 golf with fast cam and webers. I have seen many people up north referring to them costing about £90. Best quote I've had down here in the south is £270! A place near Salisbury. Does anybody know of a place near West Sussex that charges a reasonable amount? Google has not come up with any apart from places that don't deal with good old fashioned technology. They all seem to only deal with remapping high tech stuff. I may put my Rh on for a laugh to see how few horses my 1600 pinto puts out!Fast enough for me and an overconfident 18 year old for the moment.

Cheers

Where near Salisbury..slark racing, SRE are in amesbury and are good.just north of Salisbury. JKM are in Portsmouth and are good too. Slark are old school and famous for minis whereas Jim at JKM is a revo/emerald specialist.I don't know if they do old school.

Strange as it may seem, pop to library (WHSMITH) pick up fast Ford or retro Ford and look thro them.you should find one close

They're not all that close, but I highly recommend SANSPEED in Bexleyheath.

Its a father & son business.....Dad Peter rallies Mk1 & 2 escorts,

knows Webers & dellortoes inside out, & his son Graham is into

4wd stuff, PC mapping & fuel injection.

Setting up my RH usually takes an hour & costs about £100

Just been to stark with my son's mk2 golf. Very good! Found dizzy has poor advance curve. Going to look into a megajolt. But his 1.6 with Kent cam and webers puts out 104 bhp. Not a bad gain from the 75 original. Scary stuff though at full pelt on the rolling road. Stood well clear. Thanks for the recommendation Paul. May see you Sunday!

Glad you found them usefull. Do you have torque curve you can post up? Funny that my lotus twincam is also 1600 and originally put out 104.7 too. not now tho.

See you Sunday if your going.

I`ll try and attach a photo of the curve but basically my son had set up his car to run well with good pulling from low revs. The rolling road confirmed this but he discovered the max advance to be 47 degs. Piston melting on the horizon. So he put it to 35 degs which increased the power from 94 to 104 bhp but had a flat spot in the torque around 2500 because the dizzy was not advancing enough at this point. He took it apart but was unable to make any adjustment confidently. It also revealed that my sons economic dizzy purchase was very cheaply made. Probably chinese! A bit of research had shown that people tend to put gti dizzies on the 1600 carb model especially with the fast road cam. So this is the next project for him! By the way the rolling road showed the fuelling to be perfect anyway. An exciting drive home followed with him demonstating his extra bhp to his dad! Like father like son. All legal though!!

A great fun and educational day.post-13705-0-66782700-1474051210_thumb.jpg
