Exhaust Re-packing

Hello all,

 

Just popped open a RH exhaust with a view to repacking it, and much to my surprise there was already some wadding in there! Not much though Anyway, now it's open I may as well stick some more in, so how much and how tightly should it be packed?

 

And I assume I don't put any in the middle chamber (see pic)?

i"d say outside chamber only, if you put it in the centre chamber it will just blow back out . the more you put in the quieter it"ll get,

I would have thought that there must be a optimum level of packing because if you force too much in you would be stopping the sound passing through the perforated pipe and thus being absorbed, what that level is I've no idea having only ever having worked on vibration reduction not sound reduction.

 

its seems to be expensive stuff as well so you dont want to use more than is necessary

Just the two end chambers fill them fairly full but don’t jam it in until you can’t get any more in
