Hi , I'm looking at applying for iva approval on my recently purchased Exmo that was unfinished. The only document I have on the build is the v5, however the engine number isn't the same as the donor number. The guy I bought it off said he believed the engine was reconditioned by the previous owner but has no supporting documents. How can I get round this as I believe the iva tester checks this . Thanks , Scott

I believe the Exmo used a Ford donor, in which case there are two code letters at the beginning of the number that denote the age of the engine.

There is also a list of engine codes related to month and year of first use with Ford credentials that the testers will accept. Nottingham had the list in the back of their manual.

BUT, the engine number must be original, any changes or signs of alteration will negate the proof and you will be asked to meet current emission standards.

Cheers mate, the donor vehicle v5 is dt and the engine block is cl. Could I possibly get a receipt for the different engine ? Dated back? .

I just received a letter back from ford technical dept saying its no longer there. With no other information as to where to send it. Will have to rely on Burton page.

Think I'm right in saying Scott will be going to Kidderminster test station and they accept the burton page.

Burton page was accepted in Sunny Southampton as well --- but 6 years ago.
