I failed the emmissions on the Iva test I am sure its because I had no catalytic converter has anyone had the same problem

mine passed iva on bike carbs/megajolt without a cat.

My engine is from early 1992 with a letter from ford as proof, so didnt need a cat.

 

What year is your engine from?

Is it using all original EFI bits?

It's 1992 with all original bits

It should pass get a home tune man round tell them the age of efi to check if they can work on it ok.

 

mine needed a new sensor after a check.

 

or your local mot test station may help

Did you provide proof of engine age at IVA?

No will when I go next time my mistake should have got proof of age. Will get my mechanic to check its running ok think it's got to much fuel you can smell it

If you didnt provide proof of engine age that is why it failed! Have you got the details of what the tested emissions were? It may well be with proof of engine age that it will pass!

He based it on a really old engine still failed think it just needs adjustments

What exactly did it fail the emissions on? Different bits point to different problems

We did as Stephen suggested above -- took Florin for a "Dummy MOT" before IVA. Garage was very happy to check all MOT points which is some way towards an IVA pass.

Oh for a Q plate never had this issue passes every time and now have a new zetec black top decompressed with turbo and no cat.
