HI Guys,

I have bought a 2B + but the steering wheel and pedals distance is too close and I find it difficult to move my leg/foot to the clutch pedal. The pedal arrangement is from the original Sierra. The seat is fully as far back as possible.

The steering column is also Sierra, I want to just a buy a steering wheel boss, but which type? Recommendations please.

I'm also looking to buy nylon suspension bushes, is there a kit that would suit this car? again looking for advice?

thanks guys

Depends on how a 2b is built as to how much room there is. I drove a 2b before mine was on the road and my knee turned the steering when I changed gear, but mine has loads of room. But I did build it for me.

You could try lifting the wheel/column.

A quick release steering boss would give extra space.

I have one I find far to deep as I am long in the arm and leg.

I need my original boss nearer to the dash.

Steering bosses come in two depths.

Long and short with at least 1" difference in length.

John still building had a long one but I don't know if it is for sale, or already sold.

Worth an ask. Cheapest way of solving your problem.

On the 2b there is a tube that runs up around the scuttle but there is nothing between the top of the steering cowl and this tube so you can cut the dash and move it up as you wish.

Also depends on size of steering wheel you have. Is it the 11inch mountney?

The sierra column has a colapsable section (triangular bar) so if you are careful you can pull this out a bit further (making sure the nylon bushes stay inside the tube) and make the whole column come towards you (depending on how the original builder made the brackets for the column)

HI Guys, thank you for all this info. The issue is the pedal comes about 30mm further forward than the brake pedal. That's a lot. I have adjusted the stop under the pedal rest, but there is only minimal movement, if too far I am unable to engage gears.

The chassis is made on this 2B that the pedal box from the Sierra fits correctly into the frame brackets, so no adjustment there??

The steering column, comes over the top of the frame tube, and is fixed into position again with the frame bracket making minimal adjustment. The steering column has the taper end and square or I think 5 flat sides to engage the steering wheel boss.

I think this is the only option (other than changing the original Sierra seats) to fit an after market boss. Any recommendations? It has the 11" Mountney Steering wheel.

All advice welcome. Thanks

Are the pedals still "banana " shape or have they ( 1 or both) been straightened & does the clutch dis-engage long before pedal hits the bulk-head??

Florins pedals are Sierra donor, cut & rewelded to be hanging vertically down from the pivot bar & are near level at the pads.

My car is a tight fit just like this and my clutch pedal is also higher than the others. However, i found i got used to it. After not driving the car over the winter it felt really cramped again but after half an hour or so I was used to it again. I posted a similar thread some months back. Ken 2b cruising suggested keeping my left your under the clutch when not using it which helped.
