As said another great weekend arranged by Richard and Jackie.

Was a little wet on occasions but nowhere near enough to dampen my spirits.

So pleased my car worked all weekend and no one broke down.  I ended up doing 525 with a very reasonable 27mpg for the weekend.

Just sat down for a cuppa tea now  https://goo.gl/photo...sbDUUnAMesgfUXA

Have booked the weekend off next year just in case we can bully Richard and Jackie to host another year.

Thanks for an awesome weekend.

#374208 600Cc Bike Carbs Onto A Pinto 2L

Posted by Thrashed on 22 June 2017 - 01:48 PM

I have ZX6r bike carbs on my pinto. I have a facet fuel pump and a pressure regulator set to 1.5 psi. Most bike carbs can suffer a max of about 3psi.

I have a Sytec regulator which cost less than £30 and a Facet red top fuel pump, which will run at about 7psi. I needed the red top to get the fuel flow levels as the original Facet posi flow has almost the right pressure (max 4 psi) but didn't deliver enough flow as I found out on the first rolling road session!

I then had it set up on a rolling road, which involved drilling out standard jets.

Just a quick update....

That's to Gaz and Bob for their help, but over the bank holiday weekend got the whole thing finished.

Replaced and terminated all the burn wires.  The whole process was easier than I imagined to start with as the plan worked first time.

Car is now back on the road and made the club meet last night.

Thanks for everyone's help and advice.  I will be starting a post on the FIA battery isolator next, so will need a bit more help yet.

Thanks for the tips everyone. Surprised about the crimps.

Because of the space I don't think having 21 crimps next to each other is going to work. Going to go with the twist solder and shrink method as I am hoping it will have the smallest footprint.

Should have the parts for Wednesday/ Thursday so will keep everyone posted

Well, think I might go buy a lottery ticket as I am the luckiest person around at the moment.

Just had the starter and alternator back from the electricians and they are both in perfect working order!  Would never have thought they would have survived but they have.

Just waiting for the new wires and connectors to turn up and then I can start the chopping!

Thanks for all the help and support.

Dan, found this diagram.  Is this how you're suggesting fitting the switch?

Dan, really it is about option 2.  1 I have enough security, secret starting process and removable steering wheel, option 3 isn't a problem the car had.

Can they be wired so that off is on and on is off, so that I don't have to leave the key in?

If I am every doing anything major I always undo the battery, so just for emergencies really.

#366759 Wheel Wobble

Posted by Thrashed on 27 November 2016 - 03:13 PM

Final outcome.....

Well the net result is the problem is fixed.  Took car yesterday to get the spigot rings fitted and also had the wheels balanced.

Did a good 5 miles on the motorway at the speed limit and no sight of any vibrations,

The balance on the wheels was a fair bit out, so in conclusion, was it the spigot rings or balancing that fixed the problem?  Dont know, dont care, its fixed!

My thoughts are that having the correct spigot rings fitted will not do any harm.

Just hope that if some one else is having the same issue this might give them a clue to a possible cure.

Now on to the next task.... stopping a pinto leaking oil.  Pretty sure is might be a thing of myth, but going to have a try.

Another amazing weekend hosted by Richy & Jackie. Not much in terms of car issues. I think Zach lost more fluids than Stu's car but only just. pizza and fire on the beach was a great chill out for a Saturday night.

Have some video and a few pics which I will upload over the next few days.

Home safe now and ready for a long sleep.
