Black Stains On Fibreglass Panels

I've got a IIIa with red fibreglass panels. Over the past couple of years I have noticed that black streaks are appearing mainly on the wings, but also on the nosecone. Polishing them does not appear to have any effect.

 

The car is kept garaged (but unheated) and is therefore damp in winter.

 

Has anyone else come across this problem or is it just me that has a case of the dreaded lurgy??

 

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

could be rust stains or bird sh+t

If it's the same as the black streaks that caravans get you could try a proprietary "Black Streak Remover", available from caravan accessory shops.

It's probably fading of the gel coat.

got similar on my nosecone but it is red i can see coming through the yellow.cycle wings were changed when new as green was weeping through.the moulds were not cleaned properly so the last colour bled through.hth.
