Zero Fuel Capacity And Distance Per Tank?

Hi all,

Hope this is the right section? I have a standard Zero with factory supplied fuel tank and was wondering if anyone has tried to see how far they can get from a full tank. So far I seem to have managed about 100 miles. The fuel gauge was flicking between 1 bar and 2 bars but stayed on one mostly (have an acewell digi dash). Now when I filled her up, it only took about 17 litres until the fuel overflowed the filler neck, so Im thinking my sender unit might not be set right. Will pull it out later and check the swing of the float.

Has anyone else who has a zero done a distance test? im running a standard 2.0 zetec with OEM fuel injection. Just curious as I'm going to Le Mans in June and if I only get 100 miles or so per tank then I'm going to need a few fuel stops! Any advice welcome.

Thanks

Andy

I think it will take more than 17 litres.

The problem with filling these up is you have to do it VERY slowly else you will get back splash as the fuel vapour tries to get past the incoming fuel.

Also depends on your right foot :)

But, 100 miles on a tank sounds about right. After that, the hunt the next petrol stop starts ...

Simon.

The standard Zero tank should hold about 27litres (according to KitSpares) so about 6 gallons. If you are only getting 100 miles that is just under 17 to the gallon. With sensible driving I would expect you to be able to get 25 to 30 to the gallon so a range of between 150 and 180 miles.

Except as in his original post he only used 17litres so achieved more like 27mpg.

I would say you have a bit more usable fuel in the tank and adjusting the Sender would help in future.

Good point, I really must read the posts properly :(

Been out and adjusted the sender. Took the sender out to expect about 1/4 of a tank and it was more like 3/4 :) So have measured the tank depth, the full throw of the sender float and adjusted accordingly! Next week end I'm going to fill to the top and drive until I get the low fuel warning and see what I get.

Thanks for the replies!!
