New Shock Absorber Snapped

Replaced shock absorber snapped, Why?

For some time I heard a dull knocking sound in my Volkswagen crafter 3.5. It passed its MOT. Going through the Clyde tunnel three weeks ago I hit a pot hole and the shock absorber snapped, leaving my wheel at a funny angle. Anyway the garage replaced it but there was still that knocking, but in addition I felt another type of knock in the steering wheel when I turned it back and forth. I took it back and they replaced a bush saying that's what caused it. Guess what? Still the same and yesterday, one week later, I turned a corner and the new shock absorber snapped, leaving my wheel at a funny angle. What's happening? Anybody know?

Could be a bad batch from the factory, but I would also be thinking about checking all other bushes in the suspension set up feels like too much movement in a direction it was not design to do. Also check you have bump stops fitted to limit suspension movement so shock does not fully collapse onto its self.

Thanks for the replies. I can send a pic on Monday sometime. I guess by then the garage will be already working on it. I'll take your advice and insist all bushes be replaced.
