Theduck,would you have any pics of your pump install please that I can use as reference prior to butchering my precious purchase ?

I haven't got any of the cutdown pump, it's pretty obvious once in hand what you can cut. There are plastic towers and of course the metal rods. /start with the rods and Just cut a bit at a time until short enough. If you get to the point where the plastic towers touch the top piece you can cut them too.
