hello all where is the best place to get the coil over conversion kit for my 2b? and a full exhaust system and cam kit or big vale head???

Might be worth posting it under the main Chassis area rather than the lightweight Issues. I too would be interested in the best place for a coil over conversion kit.

Cheers

Steve

Dave4kids has fitted a front wishbone kit in place of the sliding pillar set up, he got his from GBH, sorry GBS, its quite good but check bolts and brackets.

Full exhaust, cheap go to GBS, expensive but very very good go to 907 on the Locostbuilders site, again Dave4kids fitted one and it is a work of art.

Cam kits, there are about 5 manufacturers Kent, Piper, Burtons, Cat Cams, Holbay, first 3 are better known.

Now I have done some research on cams for the Pinto so if you are running a Pinto this may help.

Lift is good up to about 12.5mm then you loose reliability

A bit more duration is good in a light car and you will need more compression to make it work.

The 285 cams work well with an injection head, thin gasket and some decent carbs + more compression.

The Pinto loves compression but the pistons don't 10.5 to 1 max on standard ones.

The longer duration cams like revs and the Pinto rods don't, 6800 max.

There is a secret cam (Kent FR30) that not many people use known affectionately as the caravan cam, short duration but lots of lift, runs out of go over 6000 rpm but the torque is diesel like.

Pintos work well with the block decked to help resist detonation (pinking), more squish when the piston gets close to the head face, 0.75mm closest, 0.9 for loads of revs.

The injection head is very good compared with the standard offering, put some bigger inlet valves in with the port throats under the valves opened out and you will see noticeable gains.

This is a bit general and there is a lot of science about engines, cams and compression but this is info i have gleaned by trawling books and forums.

It's all down to money and the law of diminishing returns, at some point it's cheaper to fit another engine for more BHP/Torque
