They put mine up about £30, and gave me all that about why prices have gone up on the phone. if it hadn't gone up that much I'd have paid it without shopping round but I got this years for less than last years now. Will try then again next year.

Slight difference in excess, but that is all from what I can tell. Underwriter is highways which I believe is actually one of the ones that a-plan use, though not the one they were placing me with. Have had insurance with them before, including going through a claim, and been happy with them, so should be ok if the worst happens.

Got my renewal from A plan, had gone up to £148 with breakdown cover so rang around and found the same from Sure term direct for £125 with free legal cover. Rang up A plan but they said the cheapest they could do it was £148 with free legal cover (was £30 extra with renewal) both were with Highway, guess who I'm insured with now.

Hi guys.

Is insurance for a 21 year old on a Robin hood with a 2 liter engine going to be pricey?

Do insurers look differently on kit car owners than on regular car drivers?

I've been driving since I was 17. And now all that is stopping me getting a kit car is the insurance quote ( It will only be a weekend car). Just wondered what you experienced guys thought before I ring around on Monday.

Thanks.

i've had my hood since i was 22. That was a while ago now, but you may be surprised - at that time it was about half what i had been quoted for a supermini. Only phone specialist kit/classic insurers.

I was 21ish when I first insured mine 3.5 years ago. It was £680ish, my only car (so commuting) and 9k miles a year (they believed I worked very close to home...) Living in Coventry city centre-ish.

I'm now 25 (insurance was last month at 24) and 3k miles, a claim (unknown 3rd party hit and run) and have a main car (no commuting) same first part of the postcode and it was £310 with A-Plan. I've doubled the engine power since then too.

You should have no problem and probably be very happy with the cost of insurance (despite the age discounts :p lol)
