Been doing some research into Mazda bits and much to my surprise the late model 1800 and 2.0 MX-5 are actualy powered by a version of the zetech/ dura tech family and so if you are building a late engined zero the 6 speed g/box could be an option if the tunnel is big enough ,if its any thing like the 5 speed in my mx-5 itwill be a cracker . Just a silly old ones musing :crazy: mick

The mazda mzr is a fantastic engine, much better than the fwd versions-much more a sports engine with performance in mind! The 5 speed n7 gearbox is a fair bit lighter and has a smaller casing than it's 6 speed brother-can't remember difference in ratios though..... The mx5 box will cant the engine over at 10 degrees, easiest option is to keep all mx5 starter, clutch and flywheel.... Diff is LSD in the 2.0 models.... I'm on the lookout for a mk1 mx at the min with a view of a 2.0 sport the year after
