#385110 Another Newbie With Questions

There are some minor differences to the blocks externally depending on exactly which 1600 you have, but regardless of that, exhaust and intake manifolds are interchangeable between all pintos.

I'm pretty sure I know someone with spare manual gear box and someone else that has a propshaft that would work too ;)

#384966 Wideband Lambda

I also have a spartan2.  The LD Performance stuff always looks like a bit of bargain, but very mixed reviews.  Also understand he produces very low buck poor quality clones of megasquirt ecus and that puts me off immediately.

Welcome Paul, think I was talking to you on facebook (Stu Thomas).  There will be a couple of areas to address for the IVA with that setup, but nothing scary enough that it should put you off, couple of bolt in reinforcements for the steering column, load spreading plates for the seats, and some careful consideration for seat belt mounting and routing.

#384034 Emissions Proposals For Kit Cars Scrapped!

Posted by theduck on 01 May 2018 - 09:14 AM

From Complete Kit Car on Facebook

We've just received a call from the Department for Transport confirming that they will not proceed with the part of the emissions regulation proposals that affected kit cars. There were over 2000 responses to the consultation.

A Department for Transport spokesperson said:

“The UK’s specialist vehicle industry is thriving – it creates jobs and gives enjoyment to many, with products exported all over the world.

“We are grateful to the over 2000 kit and replica car enthusiasts, manufacturers and suppliers who took part in this consultation. Following their responses, we have decided that there will be no changes to the current MOT–style testing of kit car emissions.”

#383637 Robin Hood 2B Weight And Power

Posted by theduck on 26 April 2018 - 09:24 AM

It is recommended that there is a secondary braking system for all vehicles travelling faster than 150mph, this can be a parachute or mechanical braking system in addition to a hydraulic system.

One day, I'll have a car fast enough to need to comply with this rule
