How To Calibrate Smiths Speedo?

As per title, it`s reading 10 mph faster than it is.

There is a wire hanging from the steering column which the previous owner said was used to initially to calibrate it.

Any ideas??

hi, Andi, the autometer gauges I have are calibrated using the trip button held while powering up, then drive 2 miles and press the trip button.

I am thinking then that the loose wire is the trip button as there is nothing on the clock itself

I used my Sat Nav to give a correct reading and then just whacked in a number to see what happened, it was then easy to put in the correct number and get the reading spot on, I have the written instructions, if you want I could copy and E-Mail them, PM me if you want them
