Fuel Tank And Battery

Hi all, another newbie here, think I know roughly what to do, not posted on any forums before. I have also got a confession to make. My 2b wishbone kit was bought by me in 2001! and still isn't finished! So I think it deserves some dedication and finishing or at least complete and through the IVA. So as the IVA seems to be such a grey area I have some concerns as to the current position of my battery. Its located in a galv box mounted in the boot floor infront of the RHE s/s fuel tank, in the space between that and the rear drive shaft. Has anyone passed an IVA with there battery located in proximity to the fuel tank? Or dose anyone Know of any IVA rules that would restrict its location near to the tank.

Hello Fletch, welcome , even though I'm a relatively new member myself , my locost has the battery located next to the fuel tank so I'm hoping that it's not a IVA issue, I have mine secured and all terminals fully insulated, also fitted in line isolator switch. Ps is that Elland between Brighouse n Halifax ?

The very same, ive been wondering if there were any members close by, the members map dosent seem to work. So your fairly confident on your battery then? have you had any advice on it, its just if I carry on with the dash and tunnel it will be a massive job to alter if it fails.(I will put it back though its much better weight distribution ay).

Realy Bob? That is surprising. If that's the case the extra weight of the v6 should help even it out. The battery is In a neat place out of the way but obviously if the inspectors don't like it, game over. The engine hasn't left room for it in the engine bay, I think I could squeeze it either into passenger footwell or on top gear box tunnel under the sierra wiper motor, but these obviously need to be sorted out early on. Before the insides are finalised.

There are a few members close by, I'm based in Shelf but very much a novice with a very slow moving project. The West Yorkshire meeting is 8 pm on the second Monday of the month at the Airedale Heifer in bingley, if you come along there are usually a few 2b's and some pretty friendly and knowledgable guys.

Florin passed IVA , February 2011 with battery in s/steel box below boot floor & same as yours -- between tank & drive shaft. No comment from examiner --- in that area he only asked about tank earthing. Two points -- I lined the battery box with flooring foam matting & the main battery cable is 25mm CSA.
