Out And About

I nipped out of work on wednesday this week to get a bit of fresh air and went for a walk along the industrial estate where we are based.

walking past the ferrari garage i spotted a familiar figure, Richard Stewart.

Stopped and had a chat with him, about kit cars and cars in general and he mentioned that he was after a new car as his current one wasnt very comfy for everyday driving.

"whats your current car?"

"oh its the Gallardo over there"

That would be the bright yellow lambo gallardo in the car park then!

proper nice chap, and clearly done very well for himself out of the sales of RH

did it have the titainuim coated stainless on the sides, LOL,

Must agree Richard was a very nice bloke as long as you wasnt asking questions on building the car, chatted to him at Stafford last year, usually more than happy to chat.

maybe hes looking for his next project,

He could always get a Mk2 Toyota MR2 and stick a fake Ferrari 360 Modena kit on it. Then he'll know what a headache building kit cars really is :D :D :D

There are some cheap Toyotas going now, so I've heard.....................

Daz, hes the previuos owner and inventor of all things Rhood so hes to blame for all us daft buggers on here (and far more besides) whos built/own/ drive his creations,

and hes already done the italian stallion in the shape of the Daytona, many many moons ago, but i doubt even Richard would cut up the lambo to make something original PMSL , took him long enough to take the grinder to the st24 he used for the Austing/healy come cobra creation lol

Excuse me being thick, (and potentially hijacking this thread,) but is the bloke "on the video?"

Did he own Robin Hood, and what happened to him/the company?

Regards,

Andy

Yes Richard Stewart was the original owner of RH engineering, he sold the company several years ago, he is now enjoying his retirement,

Robin Hood Enginnering became RH sports cars, now known as GBSC which is owned by a completly difrent (and a lot younger) Richard,

And yes thats Him and his dog (Zeus i believe) on the Videos,

Yes.... Richard, his dog, his Gilbows and his personal milk crate all feature regularly in the various build videos :D

He's probably investing in a brand new top of the range Ferrari. Once he gets it back to Ruddington (where he lives) out will come the angle grinder / welder / pipe bender etc, and the next time you see it at Stoneleigh, the latest 600BHP Kit Car will have been produced.

Remember what happened to the New Ford Mondeo? It became a Cobra look alike - well nearly!

didnt know he lived in ruddington, thats only a couple of minutes from me...

Its also only a couple of minutes from me - East Leake.

Theres no getting away from it - Richard's design skills were very good. I don't know how many different cars he designed which never hit the street, but it was a fair few.

He now lives in an Old converted Chapel - with a huge workshop fully kitted out, and big enough for several cars!
