just went to tax my z3 on line if I pay by card(type not specified) it's £167.95 for 6 months or £302 for 12 months at the post office it's £162.25 or £ 295 for 12 months ,

I have gone direct debit on both cars and the van. just annoys me that total mileage for all 3 is less than 16000 a year and i pay nearly £900 a year yet a rep doing 60000 is paying a fraction of that. Tax holding a driving licence not the car as you can only drive one at a time

Put the tax on fuel. Pay for what you use. More of an incentive to have an economical car then. Solves the 60k reps in efficient car problem as well.

Think that is already the case -- is fuel tax something like 60/70% of road fuel cost? Excise duty is just another tax on top-- keeps the government warm in bed no-doubt.

You synics...fuel tax is a worthwhile tax used to top up the benefits system.

i think you will find Bob that the tax burden runs at 90% on fuel and tobacco and my essential medicine alcohol (should be free on the NHS )

Of coarse -- should have remembered that Value Added Tax is added to Fuel Duty Tax --- it's for your own good --- to stop you polluting the planet.
