I've been hunting for the last month and will continue to do so,

I plan on attending stoneleigh show, do people take sell cars on the day?

Apologies of the daft question, I've never been.

Welcome to the mad house.

As has been said on here many many times "the only stupid question is the one you don't ask" so ask away you might not always get the response you are looking for and you might need a thick skin occasionally with all the pi**s taking.

At Stoneleigh there is a hall dedicated to people selling their cars depends what you are looking for and the availability is different every year.

Good luck with your search.

There is one out there for you.

whats wrong with the pinto... old skool rules.

That's right a good place to start.

Plenty of reliable power for little initial out lay.

Thanks for all your responses guys.

Nothing wrong with a pinto, and I don't doubt they are still fun.

But as it is a weekend toy / occasional toy is like something a little quicker.

I have a feeling that I'd only regret not buying a beefier engine having watched 100s of pinto video son YouTube.

Also remember aerodynamics is the way to top speed not something the 7 is renowned for. As a rough rule of thumb you need an extra 40% power for an extra 10 mph. So a pinto with 140 ish bhp will push a 7 along at about 115mph so just to get to 125 you need 200 bhp which would cost in the region of £2000 over the pinto. Your acceleration may be better but unless you are on the track alongside a pinto powered car I dont think would notice.

Yes Bob the cvh is a good choice if you want the car as a long distance tourer you have proved that.
