The RHE Fifth link set that this mod replaces

1) Remove fifth link set up if fitted ( if it is fitted you will need to plug the hole in the top of the diff casing)

2) You will need all 4 links from the rear axle of a mk1 Nissan Micra (two are for spares in case you mess the first two up)

3) Shorten two of the links by cutting out a 2 inch section of the tubing. Insert a bar between the two parts and push the two ends of the link together.

Weld the section together when you have fitted all the brackets to the axle and the body/chassis and you have made sure of the length of the links are right and the bush holes are parallel (THIS IS IMPORTANT).

4) Cut out from 3/16th plate the mounting brackets to the same as the templates

5)Weld egde (A) of the bracket (X) to the axle approximately 4 inches from the brake drum back plate as shown, (you will need to remove the bump stop plate) then weld edge (A) of the second bracket (X) to the axle the width of the rubber bush away.

6) Weld the edges C of bracket (Y) to plale C the width of the rubber bush apart and bolt this unit to panel at rear of seats (the seats will need to be removed).

The angle of the links must be set with the car under load, ie two people sitting in the car while it is on ramps, position the diff so that it points to the middle of the tunnel (wedge it in place if it helps) and bolt the links where it comes to rest.

This will ensure that when the car goes over a bump the diff point down.

This set up has worked well on my car for many years as well as other members cars.
