Dohc 2.0 Efi Running Issues

Hi Guys,

 

Looking to all you knowledgeable Ford DOHC guys out there.

 

Although this engine runs well enough, when you try to put the foot down it "bogs" down, lift off a little and it clears. It's like you have to feather the throttle, until it clears then gently accelerate. The water temp runs about 3/4 of the standard ford temperature gauge (speedo and rev counter, fuel etc) from original car. The plugs are all well and recently new, soot is same on all plugs, not showing weak mixture? Any idea's?

 

I did'nt build the car, and have another few questions if anyone can advise, help.

 

The fan belt is a micro-v 68383, how tight should this be? it looks in very good condition, but squeals. I feel that I have tightened the belt to a acceptable tightness but still squeals at tick over?

 

Please look at picture I have attached, what does this do? obviously has a knob on the side for adjusting "something" but what?

 

The engine has a casting mark, I think its June 1992,

The thing with a knob on the side is your fan thermostat. The engine issue sounds like it may well be over advanced ignition timing. Time it up carefully according to specs for your engine if you have that facility.

Hi when i had that engine in mine i had a home tune man with the old crypton tune up kit give the once over
