If its all new oil drain into a clean washing up bowl -- change/refettle washer/plug combo & tip the oil back in.

 

Finger in the dyke is a great way to be covered in oil.

Just give a heavier pull with a spanner in that case. Then soften the washer next oil change.

PTFE will not work on a parallel thread.... That's why you have a copper washer. PTFE should be used on tapered threads

Ideally, but most manufacturers seem to use an aluminium one these days, think of the extra cost involved!

Just buy the proper thing ,if its a pinto sump Ford agent will have them in stock , its white plastic and should be replace every oil change , buy a few they are pence mick

Update.

Bought a magnetic sump plug £5 from www.qualityparts-uk.co.uk

First one was wrong ( my fault) sent another one FOC. A good honest company, worth a look.

That part is now sorted!!! now the next bit.
