Hi fitted a n oil catch tank to my pinto, took out Pcv valve replaced it with through elbow off burtons I've taken a pipe from the valve to tank and from tank to oil filler cap,as directed by burtons.whith all this in place I've got oil pouring out of dipstick, put the old PCs valve back in all fine. Help would be appreciated. I'm also about to fit bike carbs, the carb came off 2l pinto running lovely, mine is 1.6l, the jets that was running 2l. Is 1.7 I've also got 1.5 jets what would be best for my 1.6. Many thanks. Dave

Sounds like engine pressurising, this used to happen to CVH engines when engine breather got blocked. I just cleaned breather out and job done, i would put money on engine cannot breath properly.

Hi it has 2 connections at top cheers

So would I be right in saying these 2 connectors are connected to the engine then?

If so, this is the problem, you've effectively sealed the engine to itself.

The easiest way out for the pressure is up the dipstick tube.

,as directed by burtons

No offence, but I reckon you have misunderstood their instructions.

As Shaft says, you have no vent to atmosphere.

The pipe from the elbow should feed into the catch can, which should be lower than the elbow.

The other pipe from the catch can must feed to atmosphere, whether fitted with a filter or not.

Have a read of this....

Hi so it's from elbow to catch tank, atmosphere with other tank connection. The way I've done it was definitely told to me by burtonpower, because they sold me the elbow & filler cap, unless they assumed I was using a tank with filter . Thanks for your help. Dave (sorted)

Had this at the weekend with frasers car when you put both breathers into the same catch take it pressurises and spits out the dip stick. Vented rocker to air and crank through catch and all ok

Well I cannot agree with that statement reasons 1 I ran my 2.1 with two hoses one from the block via a simple elbow and the second hose from rear of cam box in to the tank with a hydraulic tank breather to atmosphere , the oil filler was non breather type but the big difference was that the catch tank was at least 1litre capacity ,the one on frasers car is less than half a pint and it is way to small the pressure builds and you get either oil leaks or the dipstick lifting trust me I want through all of this before adding the big tank and chasing numerous oil leaks inc blowing a front cam seal out at Stoneliegh ! ,hoses need to be at least 15 mill dia bore too . The tank I used was made up from a coffee container from a kitchen out let in fact i used 3 alltold ,catch tank , coolant o.flow blow /suck system, and screen wash ,details are available if you pm your POSTAL address and they are free! mick  :acute:

The oil would help a lot Pintos prefer the heavier grades I ran the last 2/3000 miles on millers 20 /60 race oil good stuff!, but a big catch tank helps to lower the volume and therefore the pressure as does big bore pipes , I would never use any thing like 5w/40 in a pinto 15/40 if a very cold winter but 20 /50 is good mick
