Advice please? My 2.0 pinto has not been started for 6 months, should I do anything on startup? I've heard a rumour you should hold the revs for a minute after oil pressure light goes off but not sure at what RPM? Any advice appreciated!

I'd disconnect one of the coil LT leads & turn the engine over to get some oil

round the engine & especially up to the camshaft before you start it.

The only reason to hold the revs up (that I know) is when you install a

new camshaft.

Dont let it just sit at idle for long, drive it to get it up to temperature.

cos if you stop it firing then just turning it over with starter motor will pump oil all the way round the engine so that when you reconnect the coil lead and start the engine there is oil every where in the engine and you will not get any possible engine damage
