So did you cut your hood(bonnet) down and fab a scuttle cover and make it 2 pcs? or did your kit come that way? thanks Dennis Ontario,Canada
  2. Thanks for the tips guys. we did mount the diff high as possible, i have a set of Caterham GAZ shocks, and I had to google jubilee clip as here we call them hose clamps..7" to the chassis bottom seems high but the last Locost we built was a track car so it was only 3" off the ground but stiffly sprung..we are probably using 205-55-16 but thats not set in stone..don"t have rims yet either...
  3. Hey all, Dennis here in Ontario,Canada finally getting around to my build and have a question, I have the floor and rear axle in and am wondering if there is a start point to set the shocks? on the 4 Locosts we built using live axles we set the ride height so the trailing arms were parallel to the ground at road weight but with the IRS I'm not sure where to start...i set the drive shafts parallel to the ground but that seems low...any help is appreciated. Thanks Dennis
  4. Hi all, we are still working throughout the registration process here in the colonies (Ontario,Canada) and I've been trying to get a Robin Hood registration plate from Kit Spares web site...I've sent several emails and tried to purchase from their web site with no luck..they don't even answer my email...are they still a viable business? their web site seems to change on a regular basis...maybe they don't ship out of GB? anyone help? Thanks Dennis
  5. I don't think I'll need import paperwork as the kit has been through 3 sets of owners since being imported but it was never registered...I have a bill of sale from the previous owner and also a photocopy of the bill of sale from his purchase so I should be ok... We have built 3 Super 7 replicas and all are on the road, we kept the title to the donor cars that provided the drive train and titled the cars with that, we only have to pass a safety test at a certified mechanic and then pay the licence plate fee and we are on the road..fairly simple if you don't mind lying to the government Dennis
  6. Ok guys I have another question...does anyone have an original bill of sale from Robin Hood for their car? preferably a 2B chassis...I'm getting some run around from the MoT on getting a VINumber and they'd like to see some paperwork..I figure if I can get a look at the real thing I can fake something up they'll accept..I have the name of the original purchaser who imported it from the Hew Hess Aye..Thanks
  7. Hey guys, I was doing a bout of work on the 2B chassis, checking welds etc when i noticed a manufacturers stamp on the underside of one of the stainless tubes, it says 2005 so I'm guessing it was built either 2005 or 2006..at least i have a year of manufacture to start with at the MoT...
  8. Thanks to all for the replies/tips..we will probably read through the forums on 2B stuff and print off the tips and ideas and use them when we start our build..we are using a Toyota 4AGE twin cam engine with side draught carbs, we have one we've breathed on a bit and its putting out about 150 hp which should be more than enough. We are planning to start on it after Christmas(the boys need something to do on those long, cold winter nights!) but we need to swap out the tranny on the Europa track car and i want to do a bit of re-design on the push rod suspension we put in it too.. Cheers Dennis
  9. Ok it took some time but I finally got some pictures: http://s720.photobucket.com/user/dendeel/library/Robin%20Hood Any info would be appreciated Dennis
  10. OK thanks...I know it's a 2B but I'll take some photos and post them..i did get upper and lower A arms for the front suspension..
  11. Hey Group..does anyone know how to tell approximately what year a chassis was manufactured? I assume changes were made along the way and I'd like to know if there is a way to tell..it would help with the registration process here in Canada Thanks Dennis
  12. Car has never been registered..specifically asking if Robin Hood stamped serial numbers on chassis?
  13. Hello list... We just purchased an unbuilt kit of a 2B and are wondering if there is a serial number any where on the chassis? It has been through a couple of owners but is basically brand new, most parts still in boxes. Having a serial number would make registration here in Ontario much easier. Thanks Dennis Bowmanville, Ontario
