Wiper Motor Wiring

been refitting my wiper motor having some problems motor and wires get very hot and there isn't enough power to move the wipers take the wipers off and the motor works but gets hot have had the motor apart brushes are fine and all moves freely so I think connections are wrong

the green wire is live when any wiper position selected and the red and white wire are live when fast wipe is selected but wipers only work on fast so I must have something wrong some where any know whats wrong

just had brushes out cleaned them and no difference not enough power in motor

Is it the Mini system ?

Is the bowden cable well lubed and running free??

have had it running with gearbox plate off and I can stop the motor easily

What about the back of the wiper socket. Connections to the brushes from the socket. Have you got them on the right spades?

 

blue - earth - 1

yellow - slow - 3

red - fast - 5

 

Could be a motor fault only. Detach the blue, red and yellow wires from the socket. Direct feed an earth to the blue and a 12v pos to yellow. Then try earth blue and 12v pos to red. These check the two speeds for the motor only and cut out all the car wiring.
