I noticed it said that on my IVA certificate which, considering the hoops we have to jump through to pass the emissions test, seems weird - why not measure and record it as part of IVA?

I assume it makes no difference to anything as I still have to pay a decent whack for road tax... <_<

CO is measured at IVA not CO2. The CO reading tells you how rich your fuel mix is, CO2 tells you how much fuel is used, and would require a week it MIRA to find out.

good lord, that is dear!

I've got all the bits, but the loom is in a woeful state and needs something akin to magic to repair. If you're a magician, or can find another loom i've got all the other bits you need, maybe apart from a dizzy (i would have to check).

I also have a pinto efi engine - good compression but could do with a new cam / seals & gaskets.

Give me a shout if that's of any help.

i don't think there's anything wrong with having the vent hole open - its there to let excessive pressure escape and is a standard fitment.

A better question is why is anything trying to escape? Have you checked the charging voltage? Too many volts causes gassing off. Could also be a dead cell but would be surprised on a new battery.

All that said, i do only remember vent holes on the side of my last battery - have you got a battery designed for fitment 90° around from its current position?
