All The Diff Info Youl Ever Nead

Hi All

I'm in the process of completing my next project which involves using a bike engine (This will need a diff ratio of 3.38 or 3.14 to aviod 95mph at 10500rpm). I have managed to locate a 2.3 diesel estate which states show the axle as a type 'V' on the vin plate. According to the NW Hood site this equates to a 3.62 ratio which is no good, but using the link supplied the ratio appears to be a 3.38!

Can anyone supply absolute confirmation as I don't want to spend an hour rolling around in mud to remove the diff, only to come away with the wrong one.

Thanks

Shandylegs :D :D

You could always jack up one wheel mark the propshaft & give it a spin.

I managed to quite easily tell between a 3.92 & a 3.62 in this way (if only one wheel off the ground it is the turns of propshaft to 2 rotations of wheel that you need to record...)
