So the engine is struggling when under load. Could be a number of things, is it consistent through the Rev range or only between certain rpm? Is it popping through the inlet or exhaust?

Check the basics first, plug leads and dizzy, timing, and vaccum hoses.

If nothing there then fuel supply/ mixture

Easiest and first thing to check should be if anyone has fitted fuel filters.

If yes, renew them or if gauze strip and clean them.

Common place for gauze filters is in any banjo unions.

That can be anywhere from tank junctions to carb fuel intake.

Does that include pick up pipe in tank and possible gauze on that.

Sorry for quoting basics but I have no idea of your car or yourself and knowledge.

I hope I have not offended you in any way.

If they are all new pipes, has any of the joints worked loose.

If you are on a mechanical pump, any loose joints before the pump can draw air instead of full fuel flow.

Regards, Ken.

In that case definately sounds like fuel starvation from a blockage or leaking suction pipe.

Yeah all pipes a new even pick up pipe i can see fuel filter is full and it is also new i will check all the lines and pick up pipe tomorrow i know the tank is clean so it carnt be dirt but there could be a tight bend on fuel pipe.

You say the distributor has been removed, have you set up the timing since refitting? if not make sure by checking using a strobe light which will also tell you if the auto advance is working correctly.

Mine was popping from the exhaust, due to timing.

I just nudged the dizzy clockwise a tadge (all very scientific measurements) and it eased the problem.
