House Insurance Claim

We had a lightening storm on Saturday and the house 2 doors down was hit by lightening on the roof. Subsequently the strike managed to cause my tv, sky box and telephone to all go pop.

I have put in a claim for the sky box and to through my home insurance as I am covered for lightning damage.

How does it all go from here, will they repair the tv, give the same money I paid for it(800 4 years ago) or replace with the modern equivalent? I have never put a claim in before so I have no idea how it works'

Check your TV guarantee -- most of our sets have had a 5 year repair/replace clause -- these were purchased in the last 8/10 years. Might get one problem out of the way.

Will be as well to check the house wiring -- lightning strikes can be 1000's of amps & damage will be at the weakest points; probably unseen.
