Restoring Colour On Grp

Hi guys.

Bit of advice is needed. I have recently had to replace the rear light pods as someone drove into the back of one of the pods and as they have changed the style of pod we had you can now see the original bright yellow grp that was on the car as it was new. However the contrast between never seen daylight and always exposed is considerable.

What is the best way to try and get the colours blended or at best matching?

a mild cutting compound like t-cut should do the job. Although depending on how deep the fading is you might need a rubbing compound that's a bit harsher to start with. I found the carplan one works well and is cheap eg http://www.andysemporium.co.uk/carplan-rubbing-compound---150g-100927-p.asp?gclid=CjwKCAjws6jVBRBZEiwAkIfZ2qLJqsDU9vJKC99Z1WWvm73KMPFiQjAZaxjYTVeRYKldf1w7GdYfHBoCeYEQAvD_BwE

I've only used this on cellulose paintwork though so test carefully on grp before covering it in compound. I've used t-cut in the past on grp so i think that should be fine.

Hi Deano,

If there is no damage to the rear arch then you could try G3 rubbing compound for paintwork from a motor factors supplier and try to blend it in or do the complete arch, then you will want to do all the others.

I'll probably end up doing it all anyway as they do look a bit dull. There is no major damage on the arches just a few scuffs on the side from the previous owner. With the be though will it help to remove the look of scratches as the nose seems to have had a tough life on the leading edge
