I'm looking for a Haynes manual for my pinto engine but not sure which one is correct

I know little about them so gather that Ford Pinto is also known as SOHC which seems to also apply to Sierra and Cosworth?

I know my RH is a 2ltr rebored to 2.1 on Sierra running gear

Can anyone shed anymore light on it?

Hi. Thanks for your offer, that's kind of you.

Am going to tackle a few jobs over the Easter break as i have 2 weeks off from work

I may need to buy online i think

Can you point me in the right direction to which manual it is?

I've checked Haynes website but pinto doesn't even come up!

I guess it will be a sierra one. If it was me I would look at the engine number and then Google it to find what year it was then buy the manual accordingly. Plenty of second hand ones on eBay when I last looked. I don't suppose there are great differences between different years but it's best to get as close as you can.

The pinto is in the sierra manual. As above, find the year from the engine number (Burton Power has an ID chart) and get the manual to suit. I bought the early and late manuals as the early manual showed a strip down of the type 9 gearbox.

There are two Sierra manuals, an early green one and a later blue one. Only difference I could see is the green one shows you how to strip the type 9 gearbox. The green one is a lot thicker. I found a green one in a local charity shop! £1.00. Lots of charity shops do have a few Haynes manuals.

The Ppnto was in Ford cars from Cortina through Escort to Sierra, also found in Capri and Transit.

It's a relatively simple engine with a few idiosyncrasy's such as if you remove the distributor the oil pump stops working.

The early camshaft spraybars got clogged and lunched the cam lobes so these became a service item.

Any Haynes with a Pinto engine in it will be useful, the Sierra one is the most up to date
