Hi all,

Own a 2b which has spent much of it's time in my garage than on the road. Any way thought I would do a bit of tinkering with the kit but it refuses to start after I put a shortened inlet manifold with twin 45 weber's, the webers are new as is the manifold, seem to have spark and fuel at times according to the adjustments I make. Can anyone please advise how I can at least get it started so that I may balance the carbs and then take it to rolling road.

Thanks very much,

Roy.

p.s engine's a 2l pinto.

No 1. 2.0ltr and 45mm carbs..way too big, like massively over sized. Look at a swap to 40mm or the 2v.

No 2. Try easy start to help and see if it will run, im heading in direction off poor carb choice and not correct jets/tubes/ float settings etc.

No 3. Do you have fuel getting to carbs.

We need to start at basics to be honest or we could be chasing tails.

Correctly timed spark, an amount of fuel.

Rest we can work on

do you have a timing light? having a spark is one thing, having it at the correct point in the cycle is another. From the top of my head i think it is 12 degrees before tdc with the vacuum advance removed. (unless of course you haven't touched the timing since changing the manifold).

Do the float bowls have fuel in them?

I did have it once that mine would start due to a weak starter motor. Messed around with everything else until i changed the starter, and wow it started quickly.
