Superspec Radiator Thermo Switch

Hi,

I have a 2004 SuperSpec with a thermo switch in the bottom of the radiator switching the fan at 88C. It has been working OK but now its become unreliable - sometimes it works sometimes not.

Does anyone know what car the the rad or thermo switch came from? It's held in by a circular piece of plastic with two arms that fit into a bayonet type fitting on the radiator.

Should the thermo switch be switching the fan directly or should I use a relay? I'm wondering if its my fault it's dying because it wasn't designed to switch the full fan current.

Regards,

John.
