Alternator

D+ is for the ignition light. I don't know a car that doesn't have one apart from thrashed's car and that is temporary! Useful on a pinto as a 'Your fan belt has just broken and you're about to overheat warning light' as well as a 'Your alternator is not working and you will run out of electric later today or your car won't start tomorrow morning' warning light.

DF is excitor current. 12V ignition live.

And B+ is the big fat red one to the battery as you said.

Are you going through the IVA?

I would recommend reading through that to confirm the requirement for battery warning lights.

I'm sure someone will correct me, bit I think it is required for IVA.

(Must type faster ! :) )

Simon.
