Superspec Rear End

AndyW and I are thinking of buying a complete drive train as a package of spare parts for our Superspecs. Unfortunately it turns out the donor Superspec has the optional disc-based rear brakes whereas we both have the standard drum-based cars. So the diff and drive shafts are of the bolt-on type whereas I think ours are the push in type (might be wrong, not a suspension expert). So:

1. Am I worrying unnecessarily ? or

2. Should we forget the back end and just take the engine/gearbox/propshaft ?

3. If we get them, is it as simple as trying to find some Sierra rear discs (common or rare ?, easy swap over or difficult ? different trailing arm setup ?)

Be grateful for any advice from the more knowledgeable of you, particularity other Superspec owners with experience of the back end.

Thanks

Al

I think there may be slight differences in the Lobro (bolt on) drive shafts Al, if you go this route.

But I can't remember the sizes (or am I howling at the moon?)

I think the trailing arms are the same, just unbolt the drum assembly and bolt on the disc carriers

The only difference on trailing arms is between estate and hatchback cars

Brake pipes may need re-jigging a little

Thanks Al. I think we will skip them, and just wait until the right diff/shafts appear om E-Bay.
