Bike Carb Pump

Should be as close to the tank as possible, but lower than the bottom of the tank.

A decent gauze filter system between tank and pump and a fine filter near to the engine.

A facet type pump with a fuel pressure regulator is also recommended.

Best not to use the type of filter that is usually provided with them as they block up regularly.

A larger one free flowing one is far better.

Also ensure flow rate is higher than needed by about 50'/,

I use a facet red top pump. This has a decent lift specification and sits above the tank. It also has a larger internal filter than the cube type facets. I have fitted a filter/regulator in the engine bay just before the carbs.

Because Ex injection pinto engines do not have mechanical fuel pumps I used a facet cube low pressure pump as close to tank as possible and a pressure regulator. I used the brass filter with no issues and a cheap filter before the carb.

Cheers lads I'll try it it first with the mechanical pump first, less hassle and better for pocket, also could you tell me if I just get the carbs balanced would that be good enough for general use, to save expense of rolling road, the carbs are already jetted for pinto. Cheers. Dave

It depends how much you trust the seller!!

Its impossible to say really. Just suck it & see.

It may misfire, or use excess fuel, just make sure it isnt running lean

that could cause damage. Check the plug colour frequently until you get it RRd

But my honest advice is get it RRd first.

I'm with Bob on that one.

Difficult to get dead right by ear alone.

Idle screws are easy with balance gauges but mixture a more difficult thing to do.

If it's week mixture the first thing that usually burns throu are Pistons with them being aluminium.

Valves don't escape damage along with their seats.

Yes RR is expensive but worth it in the long run.
