Monthly Meetings

Why isn't there any variety in where monthly meetings take place,as they are nearly always at the same venue some members such as myself find it difficult to attend when it requires an 80+ mile round trip.A variation in venue around the area would maybe encourage more members to at least try one meeting.

Lincs area vary their venues, and it works well. However in the Midlands, we have a number of people who regularly come to the monthly meet, but don't use the forum so a change of venue would be difficult to communicate.

I can understand the frustration, however I think they're done to keep it consistent? My local meet is 20 odd miles away which isn't much,but involves going right through Birmingham and out the other side and after fighting it daily to get to/from work I'm reluctant to try again! Saying that, once my zero is iva'd and legal I will probably be looking for any excuse to drive it!!

We try to vary our meeting places & times/dates -- maybe people have very busy lives & can't travel far for an evening natter ( or week-end ? ) We consider an evening meet to be "do-able" if the round trip is less than 120 miles. But then we are retired so have all week to play. Suggest you put up a venue/time/place & see if others agree --- you don't have to be part of "management" to promote a meeting.
