Pinto Oil Pressure To High?

Hi all - quick question. I have a completely standard 2.0 pinto engine and am just querying if the oil pressure is too high which may lead to future problems.

On tick over when fully warmed up the capillary type smiths oil pressure gauge reads 60lbs - if i take the engine upto 3000rpm the pressure holds a steady 80lbs.

Im using 20/50 oil, and i've tried another gauge and got the same readings. Im happy to run the engine with these pressures but i expected the pressure on tick over to be approx 20-30lbs. Could these pressure have any detrimental effects on the engine long term.

Thanks

Andy

Hi guys - thanks for the replies.

After a 'good' run the pressure is pretty much the same perhaps drops to 55lbs on tick over - definitely never drops below 50lbs. When driving hard and revs are up past 5k its probably nearer 90lbs - but i tend not to drive it that hard as i've usually got my little lad in with me :)

Don't worry about it I'm sure there are more than a few out there wishing they had any thing like it! perhaps only risk would be the oil filter seal on a cold morning but if it does blow you will know straight away my 2.1 ran similar figs mick
