Alternator

trying to wire up a micro alternator in place of a pinto alt but wiring confuses me can anyone help or if somebody has a pinto alt pulley wheel that would make life a lot easier can just stick the pinto alt on and plug in

got a inckling that the bonnet wont close with that large cap on rocker cover may need to get a small one

You need to clean out the gloopy mess in the alternator socket and look for the identities of the pins. Probably L for warning light, IG for 12v ignition live and S for battery sense.

In the ex pinto lucas style plug the two wires that are currently connected to the two large terminals go to the B post (sticking out to the right of the alternator socket in your first pic.) The other wire to the small terminal will go to whichever pin in the alt socket is labelled L. You will have to add an ignition live for the IG pin. Ignore the S pin.

Probably have a spare pulley if you don't go for the wire- chop.

Yes get a plastic one and ebay that one it was fookin expensive!
