Rwd Ecoboost

That sounds an exciting engine.

I fully understand engine building, done a fair few in my time. Im not looking for appsolute outright power, im looking for around 350bhp and a flat tourque curve with usable boost from as low as possible.

Old skool finking would be a 2.0 zetec and T25. Fast spool up but limited on overall bhp. Escort cossy numbers.

I want to get more, or rather a combination of all the good bits. Fuel economy, great dyno curves, instant boost/zero lag and all from a small light weight modern unit.

Theres a few out there that fit the bill, im also a blue oval fan so would like a Ford if possible. Rwd capable so it can fit in another Elan i have, also most 7 style kits.

By limiting to sensible numbers im ensuring long life. I hope.

Its very annoying but as of yet its a no. The bid was a buy now bid but the response was an automated one saying not back till 02/01/18

Ive mailed. If needs be ill drive up and get it. Im off up that way soon too.

Keep your fingers crossed, could these be the first ecoboosted robin? (In the making). And looking at the details its 250 ponies already. Nice.

So whats the immobiliser situation on the ecoboost? I assume that only applies if you keep the stock ecu?

If going aftermarket is there any special requirements from the ecu to run the ecoboost? Im not up to speed with direct injection & ecu control at all.

That sounds like a great idea. I know a ton of specials have been done over the years, it would be very hard to have a completely different concept. 2018 soon so perhaps a new engine will be found, better be quick.

On the plus side, if i can strike a deal and get that ecoboost it will be a great project.

Can someone buy 3x KTM 1301cc LC8 engines, machine them together to make a 3.9 litre V6 and stick that in a Zero please :) ?

I remember seeing and loving the idea of a 2 litre V8 at Autosports years ago, which was a custom billet block and crank onto which you attached GSXR (I think) heads and internals. Little screamer it was. May have been this now I search for it :). Seems to fit!

I remember that, or a simmilar idea, from years ago. Didnt it have oil problems at the high rpm's? There was a guy putting these into mk2 escorts, i have the article somewhere.

Again nothing new just a different source to start with. The DFV was essentialy nothing more than two engines joined at the hip, so to speak. Must admit, joining two engines together is a bit beyond my capabilities.

Richard on the other hand,

I wasn't aware, but just reading that website, yes it appears so.... the engine went through 3 prototypes/redesigns before it sounds like he got it reliable. Looks like there's designing a new one now anyway. Sounds all rather experimental so I'm guessing it's not something you'd consider fully sorted yet. Probably best to steer clear!

Richard on the other hand,

Ah nothing a *bleep* load of weld and cable ties wouldn't sort ;) ;) ;). I would have thought with motorcycle V-twins it would be a little easier if you could find units that had open access to the crank at both sides, you could (in my simple, theoretical mind, I know!) daisy-chain them together.. V2,V4,V6,etc... :D
