I wonder how this will affect Q plates. Will they also now have to meet the emissions that are current at IVA ?

Q Plate has no effect at IVA, as it is not until after IVA that it is designated a Q.

Also, worth noting, Q plates are not exmpt from emissions at MOT anymore, they are given an emissions rating at IVA that appears on the MOT database and V5.

Its a consultation and every takes time, why font Rhocar submit a comment or two as the U.K. kit car club? Get our voice heard and if GBS can get involved it might be beneficial for membership and a bit of PR.

Will this effect cars that are already built? MOT testers are already confused and i have had issue's with MOT's due to upgrading my engine to a newer zetec. My car was built 2010 but is a 1986 age related plate and the current rules are that it it to be tested based on the date of first use which is on the system as 1986.

 

If it is now changing to date of registration i will screwed! as bike carbs and no cat

No it will only be for cars registered after this comes in, if it does. The system should tell the MOT tester what standards to test to, which means you should still be tested on the standards you were tested to at IVA.

But can I ask if anybody thinks I stand a chance of passing the revised emissions at IVA (I've no doubt whatsoever our opinions will be ignored and this will be passed) with the following:-

 

1989 2.0 efi pinto/factory ECU - If a CAT is added?

I didn't think that IVA was an issue. 4.10 on the first post seems to say that IVA won't be affected.

 

However MOT will be if the changes come into force.
