Rear Diff - Gasket Or No Gasket ?

Just picked up a replacement 3.14 Diff for my Hood V6 Jag engine and box. (The 3.14 gets closer to the original jag diff ratio than the 3.62 that I have at the moment)

Does the rear cover plate of the diff have a gasket or not ?

The one I picked up had the cover plate removed to photograph the internals, and so I don't know if it should have one or not. I can't see evidence of a gasket on my existing diff either, but just strikes me as odd that the cover plate would not have one. My sierra Haynes manual does not show a gasket either.

Just make sure both faces are still very flat first.

The plates can distort if people jack them up under the rear of the diff.
