mmmmmm 1970......

Programming in assembler for a living.....replacing a bank of NCR coding machines with

a Burroughs B500 supported by TC500 semi-intelligent terminals for decimalisation.

Less computing power than a calculator.

How come I can remember that so clearly......& nothing this week...

1970's computing. No internet, no modems, no ftp sites so I was paid by a company in Sunderland to handcarry their precious computer payroll tapes to their HQ in Leeds on a Friday afternoon. I was 16 and would hitch-hike there and back. They paid me to travel by rail. Beer and LP money.
