Robin Hood Lightweight

Own a piece of history.

This car was built by myself during 2005/2006 and SVA'd in the summer of 2006. It was the first customer

lightweight to be submitted and passed first time.

It is built with a NEW 2.0l Blacktop Zetec engine, running standard injection system and custom made plenum on

the standard Ford EECV ecu. It has a Custom Chrome silencer with integral catalyst. With the pipercross air

filter and free flow exhaust and manifold this should see about 140hp.

Gearbox is a 5 speed MT75

All the work has been completed solely by myself.

It has been trimmed with carpet and leatherette.

The seats are GRP tubs and are suprisingly comfortable, and are fitted with Sabelt harnesses.

Instrumentation is VDO vision range gauges.

The fuel tank is a small lightweight aluminium 4 gallon tank.

Suspension is double wishbone all round with fully adjustable AVO's weighted 350lb front, 300lb rear.

12" Mountney steering wheel.

Wheels are 15" rims with Yokohama rubber, i have an additional wheel and tyre.

The car has completed less than 1500 miles since being built and has only been driven in dry weather.

Any questions please ask.

For sale at £5500 ono, or i would consider an offer!

Hi Simon,

The car looks really nice and good value to me. I don't know alot about Hoodies and prices but if its any help i payed £ 5100 in sept 2008 for a 2003 2 b with Zetec 170 bhp, no tax, year mot It has an Emerald ECU and twin jenvey throttle bodies which are tricky! The car was built by Richard Hall but i think its has had a hard life pos by the previous owner. The guy wanted 5500 for it but it needed new tyres and was leaking oil out of the sump. Best of luck Chris

Unfortunately there is a bit of a "stigma" attached to Robin Hoods & the lightweight especially. The higher priced cars always seem to move a little slowly when it comes to sales.... The economy probably doesn't help.

I would say your price is a good starting point but get it out advertised elsewhere not just on here.

Dan :)

Hi Simon, If its not a silly question why are you selling?

Chris

Chris,

To be honest i don't have time to drive it as much as i would like to, and i want to fund another project - not car related.

Its a shame really, and maybe i will regret it in the future. but its time to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy the car.

thanks

Simon

Hi my name is Teun i am living in Holland. Iam looking for a Robin hood because it is not possible to build a kitcar in Holland and get a registration on it. So what iam looking for is a (cheap) RH with the complete V5! in that case i get a dutch registration. I know this is not the wanted page but i cannot place there because iam new here. I did see this RH but this one is to expensive for me i have to make a lot of cost to travel to England and back with my car and trailer. So if one of you knows a RH (it would be nice if it's close to Dover) let me know.

Thanks (i hope my englisch is oke?)

Hi Teun,

welcome to the forum.

I would think that with the Euro now worth almost one pound, our cars would be very affordable.

There are a number of different Robin Hood models. RH MODELS this link will identify them for you.

Prices will range from about £2500 for a car needing some tidying up, to about the £5500 DIYER is asking for.

Why trailer the car back? If its SVA'd you should be able to drive it back. Get a mate to come over with you, pre-arrange insurance, & turn a blind eye on the road tax for the journey back to Dover.

I cant offer any advice on getting a Dutch registration.

Bob thanks. The dutch registration is not a problem if the V5 is complete. I would like to buy a car with a little work on it. And yes i have to do it with a trailer because my wife and children would like to travel with me so we would plan a short holiday. Thats the reason it would be nice if i can find a car near Dover.

I did buy a RH before in England but i did sell it here in Holland a bit stupid i know.

Hi

My name is Michel and I am also new to this ,very nice and interesting forum

The problem Teun talked about is that in Netherlands you can't normaly

register a new own built kit car

You must go all the way through England's SVA etc.

This is for a hobby builder what you call a pain

Plus you must add on specific 'english' items (lights, miles counter etc.)

and remove them later again

On a low budget kit car this whole action takes at least one third of the budget and time

But an English (or any EC-country) registered kit car is easy to get on a dutch registration

So for us it's the nicest way to buy what you call a 'registered road approved' cheap kit car as a

kind of a donor , and from that you can built up your own restaurated or renewed version

For myself I am also try to go this way , as I want to built the car later , allready have a frame and other parts

But don't want to hazzle with with all that SVA.and other time and money consuming stuff

Greetings Michel
