How Low Is Too Low

Trying to mount this Davies craig for the final time and in the final position.

The ideal place for it is below the vertical outlet of my radiator, this will have it hanging down under the car approx with approximately 4 inches of clearance between the pump and ground, the pump falls directly inline with the centre of the front wheels. The sump is the same level s the pump but obviously is mounted much further back in the chassis.

3" clearance on Florin leads to the sump guard scraping the tarmac on compression dips & sleeping policemen must be treated with great care, situation would be better if the lowest point was between the front wheels & not a foot or so further back.

Compression dips? You will have to explain that one! My sump has 4 inches clearance at the lowest part which is 2 foot further back from the centre line of the wheels.

So I'm thinking 4 inches under the pump should be ok as long as I don't fly over speed bumps.

Compression dips ---- sailing along without a care in the world when the road takes a dive south ,followed by your car ;just as the road rises again & the suspension is fully compressed = lots of sparks from the sump guard.
